Safeguarding at Little PaWS

Little PAWS Nursery received it's first Ofsted Inspection in March 2026.  Ofsted recognised that the safeguarding provision in place at Little PAWS ensured that "children are made safer and feel safe."   The Strong Standard of leadership was recognised and it was noted that "the nursery values align seamlessly with the school's focus on ensuring that every child achieves well and has the best possible start to their learning journey."

Some other quotes from our Ofsted report include:

'The nursery values align seamlessly with the school's focus on ensuring that every child achieves well and has the best possible start to their learning journey.'

'They work closely with parents and other professionals at a very early stage to identify the help and support that will be most beneficial to each child.'

'Children's health and wellbeing are given high priority.'

If you ever have a child protection concern, please speak to our Nursery Manager & Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Jackie Hance or the school's Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Kelly Kerr. They are your first point of contact for any worries about a child’s safety or wellbeing. You can reach them at: jhance@pevenseyschool.org.uk &  kkerr@pevenseyschool.org.uk.

At Little PAWS, we help our youngest children feel safe by making sure they can:

  • build trusting relationships — Children are supported by familiar adults who know them well and notice when something changes.

  • express themselves in different ways — Staff understand that young children may show their feelings through play, behaviour, or body language, not just words.

  • feel comforted and reassured — Adults offer calm, nurturing responses so children feel safe and cared for.

  • be listened to and taken seriously — Even very small comments or changes in behaviour are noticed and followed up by staff.

Sometimes, children may not be able—or ready—to share a worry themselves. In these moments, it is important that adults speak up if they notice anything concerning. Working together helps us keep every child safe, protected, and supported.
